'Hamilton' actress gives some advice on how to earn your way back from 'canceled' status

Since its unveiling on the Disney+ streaming service, people have been wondering if the Broadway hit “Hamilton” should be canceled. Alexander Hamilton himself had a hand in some slave trading, after all, and was no abolitionist. If he were a statue he’d be toppled. But people seem to like the musical so it gets a pass.

“Hamilton” actress Phillipa Soo has some advice for those who’ve been canceled and wish to be un-canceled. She works from a couple of broad assumptions, though, including that you must have done something to have been canceled.

How could she agree to star in a musical about a slave-trader hanging around with slave-owners to build a patriarchal, white supremacist nation? She needs to educate herself.
