Since its unveiling on the Disney+ streaming service, people have been wondering if the Broadway hit “Hamilton” should be canceled. Alexander Hamilton himself had a hand in some slave trading, after all, and was no abolitionist. If he were a statue he’d be toppled. But people seem to like the musical so it gets a pass.
“Hamilton” actress Phillipa Soo has some advice for those who’ve been canceled and wish to be un-canceled. She works from a couple of broad assumptions, though, including that you must have done something to have been canceled.
Cancel culture: If you are “cancelled” but do not wish to be, you must WORK to EARN back people’s respect by owning up to the thing that cancelled you in the first place, LISTENING to others, EDUCATING yourself, and ADVOCATING on behalf of the people that you have offended/harmed

Pin this for when you're canceled.

Because cancellers can never be wrong.

Maybe we could start some sort of camps for those offensive people who need to be re-educated to correct their thoughts.

This is Orwellian.

Cancelled means cancelled, baby.
And I **love** the way you assume people that end up being cancelled by Marxist goon squads shrieking "racism!" or some other catchphrase as a cover for their real motives end up cancelled because they don't listen, aren't educated.

1] But not every person who has been “cancelled”, hate that word, actually deserved it. The group that cancels is not always correct in that decision, and thinking they are reinforces the issues related to cancel culture.

Cancelling is simply mob bullying. It's essentially doing the same thing that most cancellers are mad about. Every mob that has "cancelled" anyone in history has always thought its reason was righteous. That's the drug of it.

She even managed to invoke the witch trial theme that J.K. Rowling rolled with the same day:
Yea. It’s easy.

Witch culture: If you’re “accused of witchcraft” but do not wish to be, you must WORK to EARN back people’s respect by owning up to being a witch, LISTENING to those who identified you, and ADVOCATING on behalf of people that you harmed/turned into newts https://t.co/la8bnR7MQT

You also need to work on weighing more than a duck.

if you wish to stop being accused of witchcraft, you only need succumb to the drowning when they dunk your head underwater.

How many pressing stones will you need before you admit what you have done? How long on the Wheel before you own up to the thing you did that got you labeled a witch in the first place.

Anyone want to cast her in The Crucible?

Rich coming from someone who tweeted positively about Hamilton as recently as 4 days ago…

Cancel her

How could she agree to star in a musical about a slave-trader hanging around with slave-owners to build a patriarchal, white supremacist nation? She needs to educate herself.
Then they tell you, “that’s not good enough!”

The mental gymnastics behind this are legitimately impressive

If presidential candidate Obama has declared that gay marriage advocates were triggering traditional religious groups and gay marriage should no longer be discussed that would have been wrong. Cancellers seem to think they will always get to decide when to call the argument over
