The new guy on the #DemDebate stage, Tom Steyer, claimed that he’s the only candidate who says that climate change is his No. 1 priority — which led Joe Biden to claim that climate change is also his top priority.
Steyer doesn’t seem to be messing around though. He has no chance of becoming president, but if he did, he claims on his first day in office he’d use his new powers to declare a national emergency.
Steyer says he would declare a state of emergency and use the emergency powers of the president to act on climate change.
That's terrifying.

We need a candidate prepared to treat climate change like the existential threat it is. As president, I will use the emergency powers of the presidency to take on the climate crisis and protect the American people. #DemDebate

Tom Steyer: "I'm the only person on this stage that will say that climate is the number one priority for me … It's a state of emergency, and I would declare a state of emergency on day one. I would use the emergency powers of the presidency." https://t.co/cMN1O4HRBn #DemDebate pic.twitter.com/GXgYLTOEdk

Tom Steyer: I will not hesitate to use emergency powers for things I want to do.
Hard pass.

Tom Steyer promising to declare a state of emergency and abuse his presidential power on day one is not a good look. #DemDebate

Invoking a state of emergency can so easily be used to limit freedoms and abridge rights. Not sure I'd trust Steyer with that much power. #DemDebate

Steyer: "We have to make [climate change] the most important thing. And we can use it to rebuild and re-imagine what the United States is."
— Caleb Howe (@CalebHowe) November 21, 2019
Yeah, we know — Democrats want to use the excuse of climate change to “re-imagine” what the United States is — a capitalist country.
Tom Steyer says he would use emergency powers of presidency to focus on global warming and environmental justice.

"I will declare a state of emergency the day I become president."
You and me both, @TomSteyer. You and me both. #DemDebate

Steyer on climate: 'I would declare a state of emergency on day one. I would use the emergency powers of the presidency."
"I would make this the number one priority of my foreign policy as well."
— Caleb Howe (@CalebHowe) November 21, 2019
Tom Steyer's big idea is declaring a national emergency on climate.
What could possibly go wrong?
— Drew McCoy (@_Drew_McCoy_) November 21, 2019
Holy crazypants Batman, Steyer would pull exec orders for a national emergency on climate to justify restructuring our economy while China continues to pollute.

Now it’s 8 years. @AOC said it was 12 years only a year ago. Wild

Climate is such a crisis that when Obama was president and had total control of Congress-including a filibuster breaking senate majority- the Democrats did *absolutely nothing* on climate change
Nothing.
