'They got him too!!': Eddie Murphy now says watching his 'Raw' stand-up movie makes him cringe

Comedian Eddie Murphy is making the press rounds to promote his upcoming Netflix film, “Dolemite is My Name,” and we guess he’s aware enough of cancel culture to know that some reporter at the Des Moines Register might go through his old stand-up specials on VHS and find something incriminating there. So now he’s downplaying comedy classics like “Raw” as “ignorant.”

Page Six reports:

“I was a young guy processing a broken heart, you know, kind of an a–hole,” Murphy admitted of his controversial jokes.

Today, Murphy confesses that “Raw” is “a bit much, my goodness.”

His early stand-up often delved into racial, gender and homosexual stereotypes, including jokes about the AIDS epidemic. He now recognizes those jokes as “ignorant,” in addition to originally apologizing to the masses in 1996.

If there are any of his old films that should make him cringe, they should be stuff like “Norbit” and “The Adventures of Pluto Nash.” “Raw” was hilarious.
