Laura Ingalls Wilder's name removed from book award due to 'anti-Native sentiments in her work'

The BBC reports that the U.S. Association for Library Service to Children voted unanimously over the weekend to remove author Laura Ingalls Wilder’s name from a children’s book award, renaming it the Children’s Literature Legacy award. The association could no longer overlook the very problematic “anti-Native and anti-Black sentiments in her work.”

According to the BBC, the association “had received complaints for years” over the books.
