Obviously, you remember when Speaker Nancy Pelosi had a mess to clean up when freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar kept making anti-Semitic remarks on Twitter, like her famous “It’s all about the Benjamins, baby!” tweet (not to mention her tweet about how Israel “hypnotized the world” to get away with its evil deeds).
That mess ended up with the House passing a very “brave” resolution denouncing hate speech, including Islamophobia. Omar certainly played the Democrat leadership on that one.
It’s not just an American problem. On Wednesday morning, the BBC hosted a town hall with five contenders to take over as prime minister after Theresa May steps down over the Brexit mess. One of the questioners was an imam named Abdullah Patel, who wanted to ask the tories about Islamophobia. It wasn’t until after the program that the BBC learned that Patel has a history of what Yahoo News called “anti-Israel tweets.”

Zionists pounce!
The BBC’s Nicky Campbell apologized Wednesday.
I would like to apologise. We had the Imam from the BBC Tory leadership debate on our programme this morning. His social media comments have been extremely disturbing. We should have checked. We didn’t. I’m sorry.

2) It was AFTER the show that Mr Patel reactivated his account revealing his tweets. We wouldn't have put him on the programme if these were public before broadcast but they were not. We also carried out a number of other routine checks which didn't uncover anything untoward.

Oh well, live and learn. At least we know he supports Labour leader and anti-Semite Jeremy Corbyn:

Oh, and this little red patch on the U.S. map is where he’d put Israel.

Patel has since taken down his Twitter account but previous social media posts from @AbdullahPatel94 published by the Spectator include accusing the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance of either “lying about wanting to protect freedom of speech, or they simply wish to undermine @jeremycorbyn”.
In one message Patel also reportedly wrote: “How long are the Zionists going to hide behind the Holocaust cry? It was a tragedy, but Gaza today is a repeat of the oppression.”
Wow, it sounds like he could have a place on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’ campaign staff.
The answer is displacing jews! So original!

That's like asking someone to relocate mecca. We pray every day towards Jerusalem for a reason.

Sending all the Jews from Israel to America and all the Muslims from America to Israel sounds a little racist to me?
— Dave Horton (@Gh0std0g) June 19, 2019
As much as I am disgusted by this man's suggestion, I would be filled with nothing but pride if all the people of Israel decided to immigrate here

I sure don’t agree, but can you imagine the benefits to our country if we had the mentally tough, hardworking Israelis as part of our country?
— Dana Pico (@Dana_TFSJ) June 19, 2019
As a U.S. citizen I will agree to this but only on the condition that the entire U.S. Congress be deported to someplace where there idiocy can be contained.

We could then protect the Israelites, and let the Middle East destroy itself. Then move them back afterwards.

At least @bbc5live have apologised for not having done basic research even though a brief glance at social media after the debate last night would have revealed this.

This truly is a new low for the BBC.. very quickly loosing any remaining credibility it may have had..

Interesting that he's still quoted on the BBC website though. Maybe you're not as sorry as you could be
— Peter Wilkinson (@Rhino2966) June 19, 2019
Well said Nicky. I saw a screenshot of some of his (now deleted) tweets and genuinely couldn't believe he was one of the (random?) questioners on last night's debate. I trust the BBC will now make a fulsome apology and not leave you to carry the can?

How much of my TV license payment went on his appearance fee?
— ⒼⒾⓁ (@gilwuvsyou) June 19, 2019
How the Hell was he considered to be a suitable guest, not only on your programme but more worryingly on last night's Tory leadership debate to challenge them on "words having consequences"? People in general and #Jewish people in particular would like some answers on that one.
