Democrats have enough of an anti-Semitism problem in their ranks that you’d think they’d know by now to stop minimizing the Holocaust by using it as a yardstick for every policy difference they have with Republicans. But on MSNBC Thursday, Rhiana Gunn-Wright, the “architect” of the Green New Deal (which, again, received exactly zero “yes” votes in the Senate, even from its co-sponsors), said that a 1.5-degree change in the climate will lead to the deaths of 150 million people.

The conversation began when MSNBC host Ali Velshi, noting that climate change ranks high among Democratic voters but not nearly as high as others like health care, prompted him to ask Gunn-Wright why there has to be a “separate conversation” with climate change versus health care.
“So in the issues that you just brought up, climate change is one of the main drivers of our public health. So the difference between, say, 1.5 degrees of warming — which is the least that folks think that we can get — to 2, you are talking about 150 million deaths,” Gunn-Wright said. “That’s 25 Holocausts, right? So how is that not a health issue? How is that not about health care?”
Fox News adds that Gunn-Wright noted that “people of color are dying daily from fossil fuel pollution” — so minorities are hardest hit, yet again.
Gunn-Wright, by the way, is also is the Policy Director for New Consensus, a progressive policy shop which has posted a reading list of anti-capitalist books on its website.

Oh, and no, for the record, she’s not a climate scientist. She graduated from Yale in 2011 with majors in African American Studies and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Yes, a gender studies major helped write the Green New Deal.

There is this insane idea with the climage change argument that a) the climate is inherently unchanging and b) humans and other animals don't migrate.

So if it warms by 3 degrees, it’ll be like 50 Holocausts? And if it warms by .75 degrees, will that be like 12.5 Holocausts? If it cools by 1.5 degrees, how many Holocausts will that be? What if it cools one year and then warms 1.5 degrees from that cooler year?
