You’ll notice we put quotation marks around “study” in the headline because the word has been rendered meaningless. And on the bright side, this study featured by Vox wasn’t funded by the government, like the $1.5 million they spent studying a mudskipper on a treadmill.
Apparently, someone went through a bunch of celebrity cookbooks and tallied how many animals had to die for each recipe. Maybe Paula Deen has redeemed herself?
A 2018 study examined 30 cookbooks by 26 celebrity chefs.
The average number of animal deaths per recipe:
?Mario Batali: 5.25
?Gordon Ramsay: 1.23
?Ina Garten: 0.5
?Paula Deen: 0.3https://t.co/Jw7oeVtGwk— Vox (@voxdotcom) May 8, 2019
What! This study was done in 2018 and we’re only hearing about it now? How many animal deaths did that delay cost?
They're counting… individual anchovies. Saved you a click. https://t.co/h6OoNqoTMd

Someone idiot thought this study up, then another group of idiots funded it, then some more idiots conducted the study, still more idiots decided to publish it and then the idiots at Vox thought it important enough to Tweet.https://t.co/D6ppMFd9xx

Now we need a study to see how brain cells die every time you visit Vox!

Thanks Vox! I’m going to have to check this Mario guy out.
— Billy Gibbens (@BillyGibbens1) May 9, 2019
Going on this cursory information, I'm going to say that Mario's recipes are more to my liking than the others.

Gotta get me some Batali cookbooks, apparently
— Just Some Guy (@jeremylatzke) May 8, 2019
Where can I buy them?

Paula Deen kills a lot of butter though. ? #thisisstupid
— Patrick Williams (@patr1ckw) May 8, 2019
They should do a sticks of butter study
— carneinsideyou (@carneinsideyou) May 8, 2019
I’m very disappointed in those Paula Deen numbers.

The quality of my meal and the number of animals in it are directly related.
— Steve Beynon (@StevenBeynon) May 8, 2019
91% of the animals that have to die from cooking your way through the Mario Batali's "Molto Gusto" cookbook are eels.
48% of the animals who die for the 327 recipes in his "Molto Italiano" are anchovies, which hardly counts.
And how does one cow die for "Totally Vegetarian"?

Starvation?
— Rquebus (@Rquebus) May 8, 2019
Zero chance these numbers are accurate.

If there's no meat then it's a side item!

One wonders how a couple of meatballs equals a cow. My guess is it was "animals mentioned" and Vox can't do math. #learntocode
— TheMonarchist (@HipMonarchist) May 8, 2019
Whoever had to do the math for this nonsense drew the short straw.
