STRAIGHT FIRE: Candace Owens absolutely torches Rep. Ted Lieu at hearing (video); Updated

We’ll admit, we were very much in the “What the hell?” category of people wondering what Turning Point USA’s Candace Owens was talking about when she said, “If Hitler just wanted to make Germany great and have things run well, fine.”

In a follow-up video, she excoriated BuzzFeed for its coverage of her remarks and explained that she was comparing globalism (bad) to nationalism (good) and arguing that nationalism is now a dirty word and one often associated with Hitler, a National Socialist.

The thing is, Owens said what she said, but Rep. Ted Lieu thought he’d take that little clip and play it back to Owens as a “gotcha” moment, and that did not go well for him. In case there was any doubt left about was Owens was trying to say, she erased those doubts here.

Here’s Lieu going in for the kill:

That look on his face didn’t change much even after Owens lit it up with a verbal flamethrower.

Chairman Jerry Nadler was so on defense he accused Owens of calling Lieu stupid, when in fact she’d said it was apparent he thought black people were stupid and couldn’t find the full clip in context.

We don’t always mesh with what Owens says, but seeing her light up Lieu like that was amazing.

Update:

Lieu still isn’t giving up.
