This is really unbelievable. It’s like Salon and Slate are in a competition to see which outlet can most successfully defend pedophilia. The now sued out of existence Gawker kicked things off in 2012 with a piece trying to explain that pedophilia is a sexual orientation, but Salon picked up the ball in 2015 and ran with it, publishing a piece called, “I’m a pedophile, but not a monster.”
Then they were back at it in 2016, giving a platform to another pedophile: “This pedophile is not a monster. Todd Nickerson on attraction, love and a life of loneliness.”
Slate decided to get in on the action in 2017 after actor Kevin Spacey was accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy, publishing a piece by Yale’s Joseph Fischel who offered up the hot take that the boy was 14, and technically charges of pedophilia are limited to those 13 and under.
Now Slate’s back at it with a piece asking if pedophilia is a disease to be treated or a crime to be punished; at least they’re not calling it a sexual orientation.
Our legal and medical systems have never quite known whether to treat pedophilia as a disease to be treated, or a crime to be punished. https://t.co/HSMOebS3U8

I’ll solve it for you: crime to be punished.

Our legal system is perfectly clear, it is a crime, there is no debate

Are you diseased? Having sex with a child, who cannot consent, is a fucking crime. End of story.

Sick and evil. Period.

The disorder of paedophilia creates the crime of child sexual abuse. However you look at it, who cares? We know what the consequences are & we have to keep children safe!!

Stop this shit! No one is going to buy into this crap! If you act on this, you should, and will be punished severely! Anyone with children will agree, this cannot be made to be ok. https://t.co/BkHISRLvhl

I've seen pedos "in treatment" after first conviction…then offend again & harm another child while still in "treatment" & supervised probation. All they need is opportunity. Their motive is inherent. All they have is time cuz they can't get jobs as registered sex offenders.

What kind of weirdos work at Slate anyway?
