It’s always touching when NPR reaches out for something other than our tax dollars, so it was nice to see that National Public Radio reached out to social media to collect stories for its upcoming series of stories around masculinity.
NPR is working on a series of stories around masculinity.
We would like to hear your thoughts and feelings on the subject. ⬇️ https://t.co/RuZtNFteuE

Our culture has no idea about it and it shows.

"Please submit your thoughts, so that we can hand-pick responses that fit neatly into our predictable and pre-determined narrative."

Masculinity is a good thing.
— Steve Ferencik (@SteveFerencik) February 4, 2019
Big fan of masculinity!
— yesbutimright (@yesbutimright) February 4, 2019
I miss it. It’s becoming extinct.
— Jill (@Jillybeanpark) February 5, 2019
We need more of it.
— eleutheros (@alpha1tactical) February 4, 2019
Men are awesome. Let’s stop hating them.
— LynetteDaS (@FabulousVPOE) February 5, 2019
Authentic masculinity is under assault on all fronts.
There is a Toxic DEARTH of masculinity in contemporary American culture.
— Catholic Veteran (@VeteranCatholic) February 4, 2019
Men and women are different. Masculinity deals with traits associated with men. Femininity deals with traits associated with women. 50 years ago, everyone understood this.
— Dave Kleikamp (@ShaggyKC) February 5, 2019
Masculinity is essential. However it is to practiced not heard. It is to be appreciated not demanded. Masculinity is used to serve your fellow man not personal gain.

No you don't. You want to hear from "victims of 'toxic' masculinity", SJ professors and the like that support the idea that nearly any 'male' trait is toxic.
I dare you to start talking to people who understand and don't excuse poor social development as "toxic masc"…DM me
— Gnost Rexa (@GnostRexa) February 4, 2019
The term "toxic masculinity" needs to go away. It implies there is something inherently wrong with masculinity, when in fact the issue is with some people being jerks or bad parents. Pretty sure "toxic femininity" wouldn't fly as a blanket label.
— isohume (@isohume) February 4, 2019
It's the only antidote to the toxic femininity sweeping across the west.
— Andrew the Plebeian (@andjampow) February 4, 2019
Masculinity is not toxic
— MAGA HAT IS NOT RACIST (@cjgofs) February 5, 2019
Here’s my thought on Toxic Masculinity, I want to know who decides what is toxic ? Is a confident man Toxic? A good looking man Toxic , someone who might not express his feelings publicly Toxic? Quite frankly I am sick to death of this purported label . Enough already #GetBent https://t.co/88aUndgdFa

I think there's nothing wrong with masculinity and I think the mainstream media should stop demonizing it. Seriously, enough is enough.
— TheInfiniteVoid (@InfiniteVast) February 5, 2019
Besides, terrible behaviors and attitudes occur in non-masculine settings as well. If a female becomes incorrigible, do we blame that on her masculinity? I think not. So this business of blaming "masculinity" for instances of depravity is a hoax. It's not well thought out.
— Greg 'Zink' Czinke (@gregzink) February 4, 2019
Stop emasculating our men. Also, Intersectional Feminism is a disgrace. How's that for my "thoughts and feelings on the subject"? Thanks.
— Brooke Knight (@BKnight561) February 5, 2019
Masculinity saves lives. The most life saving fields and most dangerous jobs are dominated by masculine men.
— PunishedKitty (@bad_tits) February 5, 2019
Masculinity is important and is being demonized. I want masculine Police, Firemen, soldiers. Masculine meaning strength and resilience .
— Leeroy Jenkins! (@TheColossus) February 5, 2019
Masculinity is what makes men run into war zones, burning building and gunfire in the streets. Sure, some men make the rest of us look bad but a country without masculinity is doomed
— Max Kellerman's Clown Nose (@NotABot617) February 4, 2019
Talk to the military, police, EMT, firefighters, truck drivers, construction workers. Don't talk to feminists.
— Britt Smith (@BrittSm56562802) February 5, 2019
Masculinity to me means being strong, having morals and value. Good character. And ALWAYS respecting women. And NEVER, EVER being violent towards a woman or child.
— James Lacher ???? (@JamesLacher) February 4, 2019
Masculinity is neccessary for a successful civilization. Without strong and aggressive males, all civilizations fall to those who embrace and nurture their Males.
— Harry Gato (@harrygato) February 5, 2019
Masculinity is an essential part of human nature that is often demonized by people who have no exposure to the harsh realities of the world
— Andychrist (@Andychrist19) February 4, 2019
Sure! Too many men are either absent or passive. Let me know if you need more thoughts!
— Mr. Yan (@TenenbaumRichie) February 5, 2019
Agreed. More men need to show up and do fatherhood with passion, courage, and resolve.
— Rule of Law (@RightOnBrother) February 5, 2019
Thank goodness for masculinity. After working 22+ years in a male dominated industry, I am grateful for the many mentors and supporters who helped me rise among the ranks. Couldn't have done it without their belief in diversity & their physical strength along the way.
— Judith Lankau (@judith_lankau) February 5, 2019
I’m just gonna sit back and listen while a bunch of ladies tell me about my masculinity and any man who attempts to interject gets shouted down, because if this is like any other such “discussion” on the matter, that’s exactly what it’s going to devolve into….
— HughGo (@Hugh_Go_) February 4, 2019
What on EARTH does NPR know about masculinity?
— Gumlegs (@Gumlegs) February 5, 2019
The subject of masculinity is not exactly in your wheelhouse.
— jeff runyon (@jrun462) February 5, 2019
Do a poll. I can guess the results, which you’ll not mention.
— Todd L (@ToddLATX) February 5, 2019
We need more masculinity and less government funded broadcast stations that are in the bag for and push the ideas of one party
— Todd Donnelly (@FunkyLowNotes) February 5, 2019
I still can't believe my tax dollars help pay for this crap !
— A. Blair (@Haggis_Cannon) February 4, 2019
When are doing you doing femininity?
— Nan (@Raebie) February 5, 2019
NPR does feminism 24x7x52. But you are right, they don't do femininity.#MAGA
— Rule of Law (@RightOnBrother) February 5, 2019
We’re guessing these weren’t the responses NPR was looking for.
