As Twitchy reported, President Trump, along with the leaders of other nations including Canada, Brazil, and Argentina, on Wednesday recognized National Assembly President Juan Guaido as Interim President of Venezuela, as citizens took to the streets to protest the Nicolas Maduro regime.
As we also reported, one blue-check journalist asked Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez if she could use the power of her Twitter account to “speak out against the Trump-led coup” to oust Maduro.
You’d think with news like that breaking, the media would rush to talk to someone in Congress about it … perhaps a Democratic Socialist who could put things into perspective.
We haven’t seen anything on the @AOC Twitter feed about Venezuela, but hey media, it wouldn’t hurt to ask the expert.
So, @AOC, any comment on Maduro? Should he go? Is the Trump administration right to recognize Guaido? Where exactly do you think Hugo Chavez and Maduro went wrong, if at all?

Dude, stop catcalling her. https://t.co/1s9X8pcd2B

Note to media: this isn't called catcalling. It's called asking a relevant question to a former member of the Democratic Socialists of America. You should try it. She's quite media-friendly, I've heard!

Amazing that the new face of Democratic Socialism hasn't been asked to comment on the ongoing collapse of the Venezuelan experiment with Democratic Socialism.
Isn't it?

AOC and her staff are out there talking about the immorality of allowing billionaires to exist.
Meanwhile, Venezuela is collapsing because they took steps to stop allowing billionaires to exist.
And media hasn't even TRIED to ask her about it.
WOW.

Are…. Are you cat calling her?
— Davelikesbacon (@davelikesbacon) January 23, 2019
Send AOC down there. She seems to know everything except economics.

She is not the expert on geopolitics… right?

She should be ok with answering these questions.
— mcnasty (@macnastee) January 23, 2019
She feels Maduro's tax rates were far too low.

You’d think she’d be anxious to clear up the difference between Democratic Socialism and the type of socialism Maduro was practicing.
It wasn’t real socialism. I mean it wasn’t properly implemented socialism. Because, like, you know, 12 years the world will end and billionaires are bad
— paizao5 (@Paizao5Az) January 23, 2019
I’m sure she’s heating up the “They weren’t good socialists” spiel.
— Steve Wallace (@waldo559) January 23, 2019
I bet you @AOC will claim that all the problems in Venezuela were caused by American imperialism, not the maduro/chavez dictatorships.
— Alex (@Alx0319) January 23, 2019
This is socialism. This is what people like AOC are trying to sell you, Americans. Keep your eyes open.
