That massive migrant caravan that everyone in the media in the run-up to the midterm elections assured us would probably never make it the full 1,000 miles to the U.S. border has arrived at the U.S. border, and on Monday, DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen gave an update on efforts to keep the border secure.
This AM, all of #SanYsidro Port of Entry's northbound lanes were temporarily closed to initiate additional port hardening efforts after @CBP officials were notified that a large # of caravan migrants were planning to rush the border in an attempt to gain illegal access to the US.

.@CBP and @DeptofDefense appropriately responded by blocking the lanes, deploying additional personnel and seeking assistance from other law enforcement and federal assets. #CBP has reopened lanes for legitimate trade and travel. I want to thank them for their swift actions. pic.twitter.com/eJVVuAs0w6

Unfortunately, some members of the caravan are purposely causing disruptions at our border ports of entry. There is a legal and illegal way to enter the US. We have deployed additional forces to protect our border. We will enforce all our laws.

Funny how DHS and ICE always get hammered for enforcing the laws that Congress passed.
Madame Secretary. I think you are doing a great job. Thank you for serving this nation!

Thank you Secretary Nielsen for your great work. Thank you for hardening our border because ANY threat must be taken seriously. Even if we think they are small threats we must take ALL threats seriously.

That's a definite No to anyone attempting to rush our border and enter illegally. No If, and, or but.

This is an attempt to invade.

Give fair warning to all who can LEGALLY CROSS THE BORDER AND THEN SHUT IT DOWN! Tell Mexico to get that mob away from our border & out of their country, or border will remain closed until they deal with it! Mexico aided & abetted this mob!

EXCELLENT JOB Sen Nielsen! Way to go being tough. Thank you ?

It’s legal to seek asylum. You and your boss continue to lie to the American public. Resign.
— John H. Stahl (@bizcoachny) November 19, 2018
It’s legal to seek asylum at a legal point of entry. Asylum was also offered to the caravan in Mexico, which deployed its “You are home” program offering shelter, medical attention, schooling and jobs to Central Americans who agreed to stay in the southern Mexico states of Chiapas or Oaxaca. But leaders of the caravan said it was “their destiny” to get to the U.S. border.
History will judge you for your awfulness. You'll go down in history alongside the Gestapo and SS

Didn’t think we’d see a Nazi reference in this thread …
