We don’t report on Raw Story very much because, well, the stuff they serve up is almost always undercooked and overspiced. On Wednesday, Raw Story reported that Meghan McCain on “The View” had compared today’s wave of bomb threats to Republicans being heckled at restaurants.

If you’re going to include the clip in your report, the report had better be accurate. The only thing that happened was that someone asked, “Where’s Mitch McConnell?” when it comes to denouncing President Trump’s rhetoric and McCain answered that he’s being heckled in restaurants.
I did NO SUCH THING – watch the clip! @RawStory your website has now both insinuated I have a alcohol problem and now this. This is bullshit, clickbait headlines that are contributing to the division & anger in this country. I live in NYC and work in midtown – how dare you. https://t.co/0OVsddnzU1

Viewers backed her up:
Meghan (thankfully) fights back. https://t.co/TM93Zvyuc3

This tweet is grossly incorrect and misleading. Watch the episode. I am a dem who happens to work in media and these type of misleading tweets take us many steps backwards. Your tweet is either sloppy, amateurish or strategically divisive. Either way, please try to do better!

If you guys want to be taken seriously you should stop exaggerating and spinning stories to suit your agenda. I’m a Democrat and I watch @TheView and @MeghanMcCain said no such thing. Stop bullying her

May I please apologize to you? When I read the headline of the article, I was angry. Incensed that you would say such a ridiculous thing.
After watching the clip, I am infuriated with @RawStory ! Apparently fake news does exist, and it’s coming from them! SHAMEFUL.— Mary (@mcleod_bethune) October 24, 2018
Meghan—-this is the kind of thing you need to call your lawyer about. If they are sued, they will not soon put your name out there attached to a false story.
— Mary Collins (@MaryG1959) October 24, 2018
She did not. Stop with the clickbait.

I’m don’t agree with Meghan on much-but I watched the show and she did not do this. Meghan is a person fighting to being back common decency and civility back to this country. Don’t try to wreck that with this BS!

I watched and she did in no way make a direct correlation. Btw I’m a democrat.

Should change your name to Raw Deal or Bogus Story.
No such thing was said.#partisanhacks

The media should not be condoning any type of harrasment, stalking, violence or volatility over politics whatsoever. This is also a #fakenews story. Whether your motive is clickbait or to stoke fears, it is highly inappropriate. We've had a rise in political violence since 2014.
— mishmashmisty (@mishmashmisty) October 24, 2018
She didn't say that! But keep pushing your agenda and shit like this while the country is divided.

Could we get some honesty here for a minute?!
— SusanBaker (@nvsuzi) October 24, 2018
Fake News!
