Considering that SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh is supposed to be defending himself against the sexual assault allegations brought against him this morning by Christine Blasey Ford, the media seems to have lost track of that fact and are pivoting to Kavanaugh’s temperament: he’s even yelling at an elderly woman — something a rapist would do.
The Daily Wire’s Ashe Schow has certainly noticed how the focus has shifted:
The shift from “Kavanaugh can’t compete with Dr. Ford’s sincerity” to “HE HAS WRONG TEMPERAMENT FOR SCOTUS” happened really quick.
His sincerity must be showing more than they anticipated.

Let’s have a look …
Slate:
After Kavanaugh’s opening statement, I hope most of us can agree that even if he didn’t assault Ford, he has just shown us that he lacks the temperament to serve on the Supreme Court.
— Will Saletan (@saletan) September 27, 2018
The New Republic:
Yeah, the guy that's yelling on TV about the conspiracy to destroy him has the sober, judicial temperament you want for the highest court in the land.
— Jeet Heer (@HeerJeet) September 27, 2018
The Washington Post:
Reminder: Brett Kavanaugh is INTERVIEWING FOR A JOB.
Has he really demonstrated the necessary temperament for someone worthy of sitting on America's highest court for the rest of his life?
— Karen Attiah (@KarenAttiah) September 27, 2018
Politico:
Does Brett Kavanaugh have the temperament to be a Supreme Court justice?
— Nahal Toosi (@nahaltoosi) September 27, 2018
MSNBC:
Kavanaugh’s visceral anger and emotionality is not the kind of judicial temperament one would expect from a United States Supreme Court Justice.#MeToo #KavanaughHearings
— Katie Phang (@KatiePhang) September 27, 2018
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:
I’m never seen such a frightened man on live TV in my life. This has to speak to his judicial temperament, right? He’s red-faced, petulant, extremely defensive, belligerent and sarcastic. Do we really need this on the Supreme Court? He’s a mess…
— Tony Norman (@TonyNormanPG) September 27, 2018
Oh, and let’s not forget Congress:
Judicial temperament: Kavanaugh has shown who he is today. He is an angry, defensive, paranoid 53 year old who desperately needs therapy not a lifetime appointment on the highest court of the land.
— Gerry Connolly (@GerryConnolly) September 27, 2018
And Star Trek!
I see that Brett Kavanaugh is giving us great examples of his dispassionate, calm and considered judicial temperament, so needed on the very partisan and divided Supreme Court of today. Whew! I feel so much better.
— George Takei (@GeorgeTakei) September 27, 2018
So it doesn’t even matter if Kavanaugh isn’t guilty of sexual assault; he’s just not fit to serve on the Supreme Court? That’s interesting.
This. So this. https://t.co/Kn8WbZh79U

"He has the wrong temperament", not "he did it". Telling. https://t.co/IRH8vcdOuj

Caught them off guard that he came out swinging and not cowering and intimidated. https://t.co/lfQWPBDpAj

They already had this talking point in their slimy pockets! https://t.co/EGEdzdgxJP

I disagree.
"HE HAS THE WRONG TEMPERAMENT" was part of the game plan.— UedamaProducts (@UedamaProducts) September 27, 2018
It’s one of the three or four responses they had ready and waiting.

Like its coordinated…hmmm
— A=A (@Beatmagnet_) September 27, 2018
they have a long list of ways to delay and they are not sincere in their effort to get to the truth which is why they resist.

And if he hadn’t gotten angry they’d say he was a cold fish.
— (((Charlie Martin))) (@chasrmartin) September 27, 2018
And if he wasn’t passionate with his testimony, they would have said that was an indication of guilt.
— Positive Sean Gong (@PositiveGong) September 27, 2018
His temperament is perfect. Kind, yet forceful when required.
— JD Crow (@JD_Crow) September 27, 2018
He has the perfect temperament for a man who’s job will be upholding or Constitution. This man is honorable, loyal, trustworthy, and most of all he has balls.
— Jonathan Howell (@DabosDab) September 27, 2018
If the people who planned and executed the personal and professional destruction of me and my family were sitting across the table 15 feet away I’d be angry and emotional as well.
— USS Perry (@USSPerryFFG7) September 27, 2018
Maybe stop asking for an FBI investigation and ask Kavanaugh to rebut Ford’s accusations from earlier?
