Pop quiz — Which U.S. president is credited with the following quote? “Elections have consequences, and at the end of the day, I won.” Hint: It’s not Donald Trump.
So it seems a bit presumptuous of Democrats to be telling President Trump whom he should nominate to the U.S. Supreme Court. Word is that Sen. Chuck Schumer actually called Trump and urged him to nominate Merrick Garland — you know, the guy whose seat was “stolen” by Neil Gorsuch.
And doesn’t President Trump owe it to the Democrats to nominate Garland and heal those old wounds?
Um, no. But ABC News chief political analyst and national scold Matthew Dowd decided to indulge in the fantasy anyway on Thursday. Close your eyes for a minute and imagine life on Earth 2:

More amusing than cracked. It seems to be a law of politico-journalistic nature that Republican presidents are expected to heal their deeply divided country with left-wing juidicial nominees. Democratic presidents, however, are exempt from this form of self-immolation.
