Sen. Chuck Schumer says Trump's self-pardon talk makes America 'virtually a monarchy'

As Twitchy reported, remember just a couple of years ago when Democrats were abuzz with takes about President Hillary Clinton pardoning herself? President Trump isn’t shy about running with that same take, tweeting Monday morning:

Predictably, Trump’s tweet has a lot of Democrats rending their garments and screaming at the sky. Sen. Chuck Schumer, though, took to the Senate floor and warned that America is “virtually a monarchy” if President Trump is allowed to pardon himself.

Schumer’s statement has a lot of people tweeting that our democracy is already in tatters thanks to Trump. If only the Constitution had provided for some sort of checks and balances …

Maybe Schumer’s imagination wouldn’t be running so wild if there weren’t legislators who’ve been calling for Trump’s impeachment since the inauguration. Maybe find an impeachable offense first, and then go from there?
