As Twitchy reported, remember just a couple of years ago when Democrats were abuzz with takes about President Hillary Clinton pardoning herself? President Trump isn’t shy about running with that same take, tweeting Monday morning:
As has been stated by numerous legal scholars, I have the absolute right to PARDON myself, but why would I do that when I have done nothing wrong? In the meantime, the never ending Witch Hunt, led by 13 very Angry and Conflicted Democrats (& others) continues into the mid-terms!

Predictably, Trump’s tweet has a lot of Democrats rending their garments and screaming at the sky. Sen. Chuck Schumer, though, took to the Senate floor and warned that America is “virtually a monarchy” if President Trump is allowed to pardon himself.
Schumer on floor: "If a president can pardon himself, it's virtually a monarchy … If presidents had the power to pardon themselves, we'd no longer be a democracy." If presidents were beyond reach of probes, one could "engage in rife corruption, self-dealing without consequence"

Schumer’s statement has a lot of people tweeting that our democracy is already in tatters thanks to Trump. If only the Constitution had provided for some sort of checks and balances …
Well, you could impeach him for this stuff, right? So that would be a consequence. https://t.co/QYiJCrPU3n

If there was only a part of the government who could remove the President, any judge, pass legislation by itself, levy tax and declare war…… https://t.co/cB8pcXLwyW

And then the House could impeach and the Senate vote to convict. That is how it works. If you don't like that, start the amendment process to say the President cannot pardon himself. https://t.co/n1SfAmab79

Nonsense !!
Impeachment and next election are both available. https://t.co/j40oa1ALYP— Alain41 (@CestAlain) June 4, 2018
there is a very specific remedy for this in the "constitution."
perhaps schumer and the press corps should take a peek.

The law hasn't changed since Obama was President, just Chuck's imagination.

Maybe Schumer’s imagination wouldn’t be running so wild if there weren’t legislators who’ve been calling for Trump’s impeachment since the inauguration. Maybe find an impeachable offense first, and then go from there?
