As Twitchy has reported, despite its comprehensive gun control laws, London has overtaken New York in murders, and the reason is knife crime. London Mayor Sadiq Khan made it clear Sunday that “knife control” is in full effect:
No excuses: there is never a reason to carry a knife. Anyone who does will be caught, and they will feel the full force of the law. https://t.co/XILUvIFLOW

The Metropolitan Police launched “Operation Sceptre” in 2015 to combat knife crime, and in March, the Regents Park Police tweeted a photo of items found and safely disposed of during an Operation Sceptre weapon sweep. The photo was picked up an went viral Monday in light of England’s reinvigorated push against knife attacks.

Yes, those are scissors that have been taken off the streets and safely disposed of.
Yes, this is a real tweet from a real section of the London's Metropolitan Police. This is the account linked to on their official website. https://t.co/5tOwy0uenL https://t.co/piawS7RKvj

God Save the Queen! Was Tim the Toolman taken into custody?? Thank you for saving the good people for Regents Park from the horror of a handyman on the loose! https://t.co/ZvBThsBtQk

These are tools. These are… how do you even kill someone with pliers? Rip their throat? Like? What? How is this real? https://t.co/LeCc3i9Lm1
— Luke Brown (@lukeisaacbrown) April 9, 2018
Screwdrivers and scissors make some sense but pliers? A file? What muppet decides to file somebody to death? https://t.co/ZJRYSYYz66
— Engaging Strategy (@EngageStrategy1) April 9, 2018
To be fair, those pliers could be used to give someone a wicked purple nurple. https://t.co/gomzF42e9F

My family originated in England and I wish these folks nothing but the best, but they’ve lost their collective minds! None of these items are weapons unless misused. They’re TOOLS! I saw a simple pocket knife referred to as an “offensive weapon” in another tweet. #stupidity https://t.co/mAdwQprG57

Nope. I'm not going to believe that this is a real account.
It has to be a parody… showing how absurdly authoritarian the UK has become.
That's what this is. A joke tweet. It has to be. https://t.co/Wa8992yn7h

I really want to believe this is satire but after reviewing the account I think these guys are for real. It's moments like these that make me thankful to be American. https://t.co/QFKI0SaekS

In just over 100 yrs, our British friends have gone from global power during Pax Britannica to having tools my 10yr old daughter routinely uses "safely disposed of and taken off the streets."
