As Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau demonstrated Monday by correcting a woman who used the word “mankind” and not “peoplekind,” Canada is so much more woke than the United States.
While America limps by with LGBT, Trudeau is tweeting apologies to Canada’s LGBTQ2 population on behalf of the country, making sure to include a shout-out to Canada’s two-spirited indigenous community.
It appears the U.S. might be catching up, though. National Review Online’s Kat Timpf writes that some activists are pushing for LGBT to become LGBTQQICAPF2K.

For the record, that acronym covers lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, curious, asexual, agender, ally, pansexual, polysexual, friends and family, two-spirit, and kink.
Timpf writes that “kink” seems to be a sticking point for many. One letter too far?
Honestly, I’d have to agree with anyone who thinks this is one of the dumbest things of all time. As the piece in The Gay UK itself notes, the entire purpose of the acronym is “to encompass any community that defines itself as anything but heterosexual or cisgender” — but the only reason that “kink” would need to be added would be to encompass people who are heterosexual and/or cisgender. After all, any people in the “kink” community who are not heterosexual and/or cisgender would have already been included in the community under the other letters.
It’s good that we’re having this talk.

Yeah, and we’re not sure why some universities have settled on LGBTQIA, as if that covers everybody.
An epic example of how complicated it has become to socialize correctly today. Make it stop. https://t.co/CYWuYhNwrI

Wait until Congress debates which letters to include when it writes legislation about protected classes; that’ll be fun.
