Dang: Salon upset to learn whiny men were right about women-only movie screenings being discriminatory

That’s right, you read it here first (probably). Back in May, Stephen Miller raised quite a ruckus on social media when he bought an advance ticket to a “women-only” screening of “Wonder Woman” at the Alamo Drafthouse that was set up as a fundraiser for Planned Parenthood. (Not wishing to discriminate, it didn’t take long before the theater chain clarified that guests who identified as women were welcome to attend as well.)

Miller took a lot of heat for crashing a women-only event, eventually battling it out online with a civil rights attorney over whether the theater chain’s Brooklyn location could refuse service based on gender or gender identity.

Now, Salon reports that men whining about being excluded from “Wonder Woman” screenings have legitimate legal complaints, and by the tone of the headlines, Salon is not happy about gender discrimination being illegal.

Dang!

So, men don’t complain about illegal gender discrimination, they “whine” about being banned. We’ll have to remember that next time. Salon reports:

… the chain has apologized for the screenings in a letter to the city [of Austin]. Drafthouse admitted their advocacy of a film screening for women was in violation of anti-discrimination laws in Austin, Texas. The apology follows an outpouring of dissent from men who claim they felt discriminated against, resulting in two official complaints to be filed with the city.

The theater wrote to the city and claimed it didn’t realize it was in violation of discrimination laws.

Just for fun, someone should circulate a memo around Google about how men tend to whine more biologically. Volunteers?
