So … that super-secret Trump dossier no serious journalist would touch helped secure that FISA warrant?

As Twitchy reported, both pro- and anti-Trump forces were celebrating the dropping of a bombshell report one week ago that named Carter Page as the subject of a FISA warrant that allowed the Obama administration to monitor him during the presidential campaign.

The resistance was thrilled that the name of the Russian spy within the Trump campaign had been revealed at last. Meanwhile, Trump supporters maintained that the president had been right all along about wiretapping; Page was the small fry that allowed the administration an access point to spy on the entire Trump campaign team.

Like just about every other bombshell report since the election, that one faded quickly, but tonight, CNN is reporting that, in order to secure that FISA warrant, the feds used that infamous Trump dossier as evidence — the one BuzzFeed finally printed with a follow-up note from editor Ben Smith admitting there was “serious reason to doubt the allegations” contained in it.

CNN reports:

The FBI last year used a dossier of allegations of Russian ties to Donald Trump’s campaign as part of the justification to win approval to secretly monitor a Trump associate, according to US officials briefed on the investigation.

The dossier has also been cited by FBI Director James Comey in some of his briefings to members of Congress in recent weeks, as one of the sources of information the bureau has used to bolster its investigation, according to US officials briefed on the probe.

Expect this bombshell report to have vanished by the time the morning news anchors are doing their makeup.
