Washington Post expands rollout of new 'Democracy Dies' slogan to other platforms, such as cookies

The Washington Post already received a good amount of ridicule over its adoption of “Democracy Dies in Darkness” as its new slogan, rolling out the motto first on Snapchat and then adding it to the newspaper’s front page, where everyone with a copy of Photoshop quickly went to work improving it.

The Washington Post said it eventually would roll out the motto to all of its platforms and, in what seems to be an obvious metaphor alert, that rollout included cookies.

It’s nice for journalists to find a nice welcome-back treat after such a long vacation, and what better way to remind reporters of their role in defending democracy than to print it on a cookie?

The Washington Post has cookies with its new slogan, but the New York Times has buttons!

Now reporters at the L.A. Times are going to insist on a clown handing out balloons with their new motto, whenever it’s ready.
