It’s not easy to tell just what’s going to capture the attention of the media; at any second, political Twitter could light up with reporters debating the merits of adding peas to guacamole, to the point where the president himself weighs in.
This week, it was Ollie the bobcat who managed to eclipse chatter over President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee. Ollie, who had gone missing from her enclosure at the National Zoo, quickly achieved celebrity status and even earned a Drudge siren for her efforts.
