Come to think of it, most people who are fangirling over Matthew Dowd’s timeline Thursday night aren’t fully aware of just how out of touch ABC News’ chief political analyst sounds in 2016.
The left sounds like 1960s conservative jingoists now. This is officially the weirdest timeline. https://t.co/eCfTur9UJq

As Twitchy noted, Dowd was disappointed that so-called Christians meeting his standard of behavior when they questioned his Christmas Eve positioning of the nativity as a political statement about refugees. Now, following President Obama’s expulsion of 35 Russian diplomats and imposition of sanctions, he’s setting a new bar to be considered an American patriot.
Lets be clear: U aren't an American patriot & don't respect Constitution if u believe Putin more than our President and intelligent services

I just want to understand:
When Romney said the same thing you're saying now, and Obama pwned him for it, which one was right? https://t.co/6TBYS2BLsa

Wow, we’ve come quite a way since Hillary Clinton insisted that debating and disagreeing with the administration was patriotic, and it was quintessentially American to debate and disagree. Remember when the true patriots were the ones accusing America’s intelligence services of misleading the public on the existence of weapons of mass destruction?

To be clear, conservatives have taken national security very seriously when others who should have found their own reasons not to. Remember in April, when President Obama sat side-by-side with Hillary Clinton on “Fox News Sunday” to explain away her “extremely careless” handling of classified materials and use of an unsecured, home-based server?
“There’s classified, and then there’s classified,” the president explained, adding, “There’s stuff that is really top secret top secret.” There had to be this double-standard to explain how Clinton “would never intentionally put America in any kind of jeopardy” while doing exactly that. And yet, in December, Russian “hacking” of the election is suddenly a test of patriotic purity.

When it was convenient, calling out Russia was comical, farcical and outdated. When it's convenient now, suddenly it's a national emergency.
