Proceeds from Nasty Woman T-shirts suggest Planned Parenthood could do without so many tax dollars

The woman who broke off her relationship after Donald Trump’s victory wrote in the Washington Post of how she cried briefly the morning after Election Day, but continued to associate the memory of that traumatic day with the clothing she was wearing.

“I am not the optimistic person I was on the morning of Nov. 8, wearing a T-shirt with ‘Nasty Woman’ written inside a red heart,”
she confessed. “It makes me want to cry thinking of that.”

Buck up, now: TIME has some good news for progressive women who share an affinity for that shirt.

TIME reports that Google Ghost threw together the Nasty Woman T-shirt soon after the final presidential debate and eventually sold thousands, including at least one to Hillary Clinton canvasser Katy Perry. But what to do with all that money — well, half of that money?

Google Ghost Press announced via Instagram this week that they’d donated more than $100,000 to Planned Parenthood.

The company’s founders said donating half the proceeds to Planned Parenthood was “the perfect way to say ‘f— Trump.'”

Put that donation together with the $10,000 pledged directly by Katy Perry as Step 1 of her “revolution,” the buck or two raised through the sale of those vagina-shaped lollipops, and it seems pretty clear that sisters can do it for themselves — though it will still take a hell of a lot of T-shirt sales to even make a dent in Cecile Richards’ salary.
