Producers hope newly announced Margaret Sanger biopic will bring this 'heroic individual to the forefront'

Deadline Hollywood reports this week that a film biography of Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger is finally in the works, based on Ellen Feldman’s novel “Terrible Virtue.”

“Following Sanger’s training as a nurse, her work alongside labor organizers, anarchists, socialists and other progressives and eventually her devotion to the cause of legalizing contraception,” reports Ross A. Lincoln, “the film examines the risks she took and the impact she had that lasts to the present day.”

Lincoln notes that while Sanger is a hero to progressives, the anti-abortion movement “frequently has taken comments by Sanger about overpopulation out of context to imply racist intent.”

Oh yeah, those racist-sounding comments. In the run-up to it 100th anniversary celebrations, Planned Parenthood and its allies warned supporters to stay woke, as the lies about Sanger would be flying fast and free.

As Twitchy reported, Planned Parenthood offloaded Sanger’s image makeover for the big centennial to Imani Gandy, also known as @AngryBlackLady, linking repeatedly to her lengthy 2015 essay on Sanger.

Sure, she concludes that “undoubtedly, Sanger held a lot of beliefs that are repugnant to us now,” not to mention that she “made a lot of racist remarks.” Oh, and “Sanger opposed abortion. She believed it to be a barbaric practice,” which doesn’t particularly square with Planned Parenthood’s belief that women should “shout their abortions.”

They might have to cut Sanger’s appearance at a Klan rally for time, but maybe they’ll offer that as a deleted scene on the Blu-ray. In any case, it’ll be a while until the film comes out, tanks big time at the box office, and then wins numerous awards.
