Christopher Lee Cornell, 22, of Green Township, Ohio, who had adopted the name Raheel Mahrus Ubaydah, pleaded guilty Aug. 1 to plotting, planning, and attempting an attack on government officials in the name of ISIS. Authorities accused Cornell of planning to pipe bomb the Capitol during President Obama’s 2015 State of the Union Address and then shoot survivors as they fled.
BBC News reports that Cornell yelled out, “Allah is in control, not this judge!” as he was sentenced.

The BBC also notes that, following his arrest, Cornell posted from a jail computer a plea for retribution against an FBI informant who had alerted authorities about his plot.
FBI agents arrested Cornell in January 2015 outside a gun shop outside Cincinnati, Ohio, where he had just purchased two M-15 semi-automatic rifles and 600 rounds of ammunition.
