Jill Stein discontinues Pennsylvania recount, cites outrageous, shameful, unacceptable, antiquated law

It was a great fundraiser for the Green Party, but Jill Stein’s recount effort seems to have reached a dead end. News broke Saturday evening that Stein would discontinue her recount effort in Pennsylvania after failing to post a $1 million bond mandated by a Commonwealth Court judge.

Stein, who so far has raised $7 million for the recount effort in three states, said Saturday that “the judge’s outrageous demand that voters pay such an exorbitant figure is a shameful, unacceptable barrier to democratic participation,” calling it “another sign that Pennsylvania’s antiquated election law is stacked against voters.”

Actually, Pennsylvania already held its election, on Nov. 8 — Stein seems to have forgotten that what she’s asking for is a hand recount of every ballot based on an unsupported claim that voting machines might have been hacked.

Actually, those who read the fine print already know that there was no guarantee of a recount, and that any money left over would go toward unspecified efforts to promote election integrity in the future:
