'F*** the sidewalk': Keith Lamont Scott protests revived in Charlotte after cop escapes charges in shooting

Guitarist Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and Prophets of Rage has some breaking news:

It was September when protesters turned to rioting, looting, and blocking a highway in Charlotte, N.C., over the officer-involved shooting death of Keith Lamont Scott.

Witnesses insisted Scott was doing nothing more than reading a book in his car when he was fatally shot; police say Scott exited his car, reached back in, and emerged with a handgun. A gun was recovered at the scene; a book was not. For what it’s worth, the officer and Scott both were African American, although protesters continue to doubt even that much.

A district attorney announced Wednesday that charges would not be filed against the police officer who shot and killed Scott.

Police anticipated a new round of demonstrations in the wake of the district attorney’s decision and began making preparations for nightfall.

Protesters still don’t believe Raquan Borum shot Justin Carr? That’s not good news. Justin Carr was the man shot on the sidewalk while participating in a protest march in September; he died a day later, and word spread quickly that a police officer had shot him as well, as indicated by this flashback tweet:

Raquan Borum was arrested and admitted to shooting Carr, but apparently even a confession by the shooter himself isn’t isn’t enough to clear the cops in the eyes of the public.
