Politico editor resigns after posting home address of Richard Spencer, urging 'decent Americans' to pay a visit

Michael Hirsh, formerly an editor at Politico, resigned Tuesday after publishing on Facebook the home addresses of white nationalist leader Richard Spencer and encouraging “decent Americans” to “stop whining” about Nazis and exercise their rights as citizens, the Daily Caller reports.

Spencer, president and director of the National Policy Institute, is the white nationalist who organized the conference in Washington, D.C., over the weekend at which a handful of attendees was caught on video hailing Donald Trump and giving Nazi salutes in what Spencer would later describe, unconvincingly, as “a spirit of irony and exuberance.”

The Daily Caller’s Jonah Bennett notes that any doubts about Hirsh’s intentions were clarified in a response to his post, in which he noted, “Our grandfathers brought baseball bats to Bund meetings. Want to join me?”

Spencer, who was suspended from Twitter last week in the service’s crackdown on the “alt-right,” certainly managed to dominate social media anyway on Monday. But considering his national conference drew an audience of about 200, Spencer certainly has been given an outsized share of attention.
