Former State Dept. IT official refuses to answer questions about Hillary's email — more than 90 times

Yet another IT official associated with Hillary Clinton’s State Department gave the Fifth Amendment a workout when deposed Monday as part of Judicial Watch’s ongoing suit.

John Bentel, the former director of information resource management in the State Department office that handles information technology for the Office of the Secretary, refused more than 90 times to answer Judicial Watch’s questions, including questions about whether Hillary Clinton “was paying his legal fees, offered him employment, or other financial incentives.”

A judge granted Judicial Watch’s request for a deposition citing apparent contractions in Bentel’s sworn testimony before the House Benghazi Committee, where Bentel testified that “he was not aware that Secretary Clinton’s email account was housed on a private server until media reports in 2015. However, several emails indicate Mr. Bentel knew about the private server as early as 2009.”

That’s curious; President Obama also said he didn’t know about her private server until he heard about it on the news, despite the release of emails showing he had corresponded with her using a pseudonym.

Further, an Inspector General’s report from May found that Bentel instructed a staffer who had raised concerns about Clinton’s server “never to speak of the Secretary’s personal email system again.”

Someone should ask them, but they’d just take the Fifth again. Paul “BleachBit” Combetta, aka StoneTear, took the Fifth before the House Oversight Committee along with his Platte River colleague Bill Thornton, and Bryan Pagliano has stopped responding to Congressional subpoenas — despite all being granted some form of immunity.

Hillary Clinton herself answered under oath a list of 25 questions from Judicial Watch, although 20 of those answers included the words, “Secretary Clinton does not recall.” Quite a few people, it appears, are counting on her memory of who kept silent during the campaign to be significantly more reliable.
