As Twitchy reported, Donald Trump lit up social media with his tweet about the tragic shooting death of Nykea Aldridge, cousin of NBA superstar Dwyane Wade, as she was pushing a baby stroller in Chicago Friday afternoon.
Trump did send his condolences more than an hour later, but only after on online beating that continued well into the afternoon. (He did take the opportunity to address the shooting in greater detail at Sen. Joni Ernst’s afternoon campaign rally.)
Unfortunately for the AP, this was one of the rare occasions where the Associated Press didn’t attempt to editorialize in its headline and was also slammed.
This is an awful tweet. Awful, @AP. And if you don't realize why, then that's the problem https://t.co/RX4pOHuyXR

Uh oh: the AP is now firmly in “If you don’t know what’s wrong, I’m certainly not going to tell you” territory with The Nation’s Dave Zirin. So, what did AP tweet that was so awful?

Um, OK. Isn’t that an example of what used to be called “reporting”? Nothing is stopping the pundits — or us, for that matter — from calling out Trump for the opportunistic tone of his first tweet.
Good q for the week: who is in charge of AP twitter feed? https://t.co/qfgziR1Oxd

Has media bias become so pervasive that people get upset when they don’t see it? The AP has gone out of its way to appease progressives, calling Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg by her pet name “Notorious RGB” in a tweet and dropping “illegal immigrant” from its style book.
It's the natural outgrowth of confusing hearing both sides with fairness.

But it's not even "both sides". It's one family member mourning and this horrible person having a Breit-gasm over her death.
— Dave Zirin (@EdgeofSports) August 27, 2016
So the tweet should have read, “On Twitter, Dwyane Wade mourns cousin’s death while horrible Donald Trump has Breitgasm”? (Hey, that’s only 87 characters, so it would fit in a tweet, so that problem’s averted.)
