Most qualified candidate ever doesn't know what a press conference is; looks forward to not giving one

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: the mainstream media might hate Donald Trump and love Hillary Clinton, but that doesn’t mean for a second that she loves them back.

Speaking live by phone with CNN’s Anderson Cooper Wednesday night, Clinton dodged a question about when she might hold a press conference (it’s been more than 260 days, after all), reminding Cooper that she was talking to him right that moment — so she does talk to the press. Plus, she’s held hundreds of interviews with hard hitters like Ellen DeGeneres and Jimmy Kimmel.

How about a real press conference, in a room full of reporters whose questions haven’t been pre-screened? “Stay tuned” is the best she could answer, noting how much she looks forward to the opportunity.

If there’s one area that Clinton has down, it’s sticking to the playbook. At the end of May, CNN’s Jake Tapper asked Clinton about the long dry spell between press conferences, to which she gave the same response: not only had she given hundreds of interviews; she was “shocked” by just how many interviews she’d done. Not one of them was a press conference, of course.

Well, obviously. And when she’s president and has even less to gain from talking to reporters, why should anyone expect her to change? One thing remains clear: her supporters are perfectly fine with her running out the clock.

And that’s what they’ll get.
