Clinton campaign press secretary digs, finds a 'new low' couched in Sanders' air quotes

Getting desperate? Hillary Clinton was accused of “stooping to her lowest ever” earlier today when she suggested that “pro-gun” Bernie Sanders, who currently flouts a D-minus rating from the NRA, was indirectly responsible for the Sandy Hook massacre.

Clinton, who has refused to debate Sanders before the New York primary unless he changes his negative tone, managed to turn off a lot of people with that suggestion. Therefore, it was up to her campaign’s press secretary, Brian Fallon, to find an even lower low perpetrated by Sanders today, and it looks like this is the best he could find.

Taking off the table that neither is qualified to run the country, where would anyone get the idea that Clinton said Sanders was not qualified?

OK, that headline is not entirely fair, as Clinton was primarily referring to Sanders’ “botched” interview with the New York Daily News editorial board, which she says did “raise a lot of questions.”

Now, did Sanders respond by claiming that it’s Clinton who’s not qualified to be president? ABC News reports tonight that Sanders told a crowd in Philadelphia that Clinton “has been saying lately that she thinks that I am quote unquote not qualified to be president.” Even Sanders, couching his statement in air quotes, refused to claim outright that he had been called “not qualified.”

So, is it true that he retaliated by calling Clinton “not qualified”? Maybe. ABC News quotes him as saying, “I don’t believe that she is qualified if she is, through her super PAC, taking tens of millions of dollars in special interest funds.” So, if she is taking tens of millions of dollars in special interest funds through her super PAC, then yes, he doesn’t believe she is qualified.
