Pardon his French: Chicago activist wants attention paid to police shootings, not Paris

While “solidarity” marchers took to the streets of New York City Wednesday night to protest police shootings in Chicago and Minneapolis, activists in Chicago held their own protests tonight following the release of dash-cam footage of teenager Laquan McDonald being shot 16 times by a police officer.

Tony Briscoe, a reporter for the Chicago Tribune, took note of one protester who had a rather blunt way of suggesting shootings by police in America were more deserving of attention than the terrorist attacks that rocked Paris.

As the New York Times’ Charles Blow reported, the Chicago protests tonight seemed relatively tame compared to those in New York.

However, there were tense moments, as when one protester decided to stare down several police officers.

And what’s a march without a sit-down or die-in to disrupt traffic?
