Yesterday, Twitter introduced its new “Moments” feature to highlight outstanding Twitter content, but it looks like Rupert Murdoch decided to have his own Twitter moment Wednesday night, wondering out loud what “a real black president” could do to address the racial divide in the United States. Somehow we don’t imagine implying that Barack Obama isn’t a real black president is going to do much to heal that divide.

Ben and Candy Carson terrific. What about a real black President who can properly address the racial divide? And much else.

Basically my entire Twitter feed consists of flabbergasted RT's of Murdoch. (No immediate comment from his top PR person, BTW)

@rupertmurdoch "Real black President?" Dude, you ARE the racial divide, apparently.

@rupertmurdoch I like my coffee like I like my presidents, real black

For discussion: If Donald Trump or Rupert Murdoch were employees instead of tycoons, would they have been fired for their tweets by now?

Maybe Murdoch is saying Obama isn't really president, as opposed to isn't really black https://t.co/qkIWXgM5hM

Looking forward to the helpful Personal Journal graphic explaining who's a "real black."

Wow. So basically @rupertmurdoch, tweeting his support of @RealBenCarson, said @POTUS Barack Obama is NOT a real Black president. #EpicShade

Most charitable possible reading: Murdoch is saying Obama does not actually exist https://t.co/Z9pDYzVGVk
— James Poniewozik (@poniewozik) October 8, 2015
Ridiculous. Even Joe Biden could tell from the start that candidate Barack Obama was not only black, but the “first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.”
