LeBron James speaks out after three children shot and killed in Cleveland within a month

President Obama’s speech calling for the politicization of the shooting deaths of nine people at Umpqua Community College inspired many to list all of the shooting deaths that the president has chosen to ignore; in particular, those in Chicago. As Twitchy reported, around 50 people were shot in Chicago that weekend alone, with 14 shot and 6 killed within one 15-hour stretch.

Among the most tragic was the shooting of a pregnant mother, a grandmother, and an 11-month-old in a drive-by shooting. The child was the only one to survive.

Cleveland has experienced a rash of child shootings within the last month, with one eerily similar to the shooting in Chicago. According to cleveland.com, 5-month-old Aavielle Wakefield was struck by a bullet and killed Thursday while she rode in a car with her mother, grandmother and another child.

On Sept. 4, Ramon “Dink” Burnett, age 5, was playing football outside when he was caught in the crossfire between two men and killed. Finally, on Sept. 15, Major Howard, age 3 was killed in a drive-by shooting.

The shootings, believed to be gang-related, have caught the attention of Cleveland Cavalier LeBron James.

We know that #BlackLivesMatter arose following the shooting of a black teenager by a white police officer, but if DeRay Mckesson and crew could take a break from lobbying senators and teaching “In Defense of Looting” at Yale, Cleveland has plenty of black lives that matter and could use some help.
