'Black Lives Matter' textbook covers 'the work of activists to bring about a more just legal system'

Whether Gov. Chris Christie’s desire to put an iPad in the hands of every single student in the United States is economically feasible or not, most students still find themselves carrying at least a few books back and forth to school. One textbook that has just been published is causing a minor stir: “Black Lives Matter (Special Reports)” is Common Core aligned and designed for students in grades 6 through 12.

“Black Lives Matter covers the shootings that touched off passionate protests, the work of activists to bring about a more just legal system, and the tensions in US society that these events have brought to light,” according to publisher ABDO.

The book was written by Duchess Harris, an associate professor of American studies at Macalester College in Minnesota who specializes in black feminism, and freelance writer Sue Bradford Edwards.

Appearing on “Fox and Friends,” radio host Larry Elder said the book is “indoctrinating young kids, teaching them that black people are victims and, by the way, you, as white people, ought to feel really, really guilty about it. Never mind the election, and re-election, of a black president.”
