The man suspected of fatally shooting Memphis police officer Sean Bolton multiple times during a traffic stop Saturday night has reportedly turned himself in.

Tremaine Wilbourn, 29, identified as the suspect in the shooting, was convicted of robbing a bank in 2005 and was reportedly on “supervised release” from prison at the time of the fatal shooting.

According to WLBT, Wilbourn turned himself into U.S. Marshals at the federal building in Memphis just before 5 p.m., at the same time that a large SWAT team presence began to form in South Memphis near the apartment complex where Wilbourn’s grandmother lives.

WLBT reports:

People near the scene were chanting, “Free T,” frustrated by the arrest. They even directed some violence towards WMC Action News 5 crews, threatening them. The situation eventually calmed down.

WMC Action News reports that McAlister’s Deli, a local restaurant, set a table for Officer Bolton on Sunday, placing a glass of sweet tea, Officer Bolton’s favorite drink, at his usual spot, along with a sign reading, “Reserved: Officer Bolton.”

After a photo posted by Hayley Parker went viral on Facebook, owner David Blackburn released a statement:

Officer Bolton was one of many guests that dine with us so often, the staff and managers know them by name and they become our friends and even part of our extended family. We appreciate the contributions Officer Bolton made to our community and also his contribution of being a good neighbor. I speak for our guests, staff and managers who were so fond of him, we will miss him dearly and our hearts go out to his family and friends.

Wilbourn? There’s a cell reserved for him.
