They say in comedy timing is everything, and clownish Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) needs to work on his. One hour after the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives announced that it had determined the fire at South Carolina’s Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church was caused by lightning, Grayson tweeted that it was time to “stop fiddling while black churches burn.”
Nero fiddled while Rome burned. It's time for us to stop fiddling while black churches burn. #BlackLivesMatter http://t.co/c4BRS16m5A

In his tweet, Grayson linked to a piece by Goldie Taylor that included the fire at the Mount Zion AME Church as part of a “wave of violence” that was demanding attention from the media and law enforcement. In the meantime, the ATF, FBI, and the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division have all teamed up to work with local fire investigators to determine the cause of the blazes, but as of yet, “the investigations have not revealed any potential links between the fires,” said a Justice Department spokesperson.
Of course, it’s always possible that Grayson had read the ATF’s announcement first and tweeted anyway. He’s like that, and some people even appreciate it.
