Vice president tweets #ArmedForcesDay pic; Obama marks International Day Against Homophobia

As Twitchy mentioned in our coverage of Saturday’s observance of #ArmedForcesDay in Washington, D.C., Todd Starnes noted that President Obama had issued an official statement from the White House, although that statement made note of the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, which is actually on Sunday.

“Michelle and I … take this opportunity to reaffirm that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) rights are human rights, to celebrate the dignity of every person, and to underscore that all people deserve to live free from fear, violence, and discrimination, regardless of who they are or whom they love,” the president wrote.

The White House also released a statement from National Security Advisor Susan Rice targeting Gambian President Yahya Jammeh, whose “recent unconscionable comments … underscore why we must continue to seek a world in which no one lives in fear of violence or persecution because of who they are or whom they love.”

Finally, the White House Press Office released a fact sheet entitled, “Promoting and Protecting the Human Rights of LGBT Persons: A United States Government Priority.”

We checked the official White House Twitter account, which issued this tweet.

The first lady reminded us to head outside for #KidsToPark Day.

The @BarackObama account, run by Organizing for Action, offered a preview of the president’s weekly address, although we’re more interested in this amazing opportunity mentioned earlier in the week.

We finally scored an #ArmedForcesDay hashtag with a visit to Vice President Joe Biden’s Twitter feed.

Someone at the foundation for the future Barack Obama Presidential Library had the foresight to pull a quote from April’s Wounded Warrior Project Soldier Ride and append the hashtag and a photo from September 2014.

Personally, we prefer this shot:
