Well, that bit of drama is over. After the House reconvened at 9:30 p.m. for a 15-minute vote, representatives overwhelmingly approved a 7-day continuing resolution to fund the Department of Homeland Security through next Friday. The vote was 357-60.
House voted 357-60, well over 2/3rds, to pass 1 week extension of DHS funding. Measure goes to the Pres for signature.

10pm…uh, plenty of time left. Congress has passed a one week extension that keeps #DHS open. Stress to be revisited next week.

If Democratic rationale was to oppose 3 week DHS funding because they wanted funding certainty, why would they vote for 1 week? Oh forget it

Does anyone have a rational explanation as to why 21 days of DHS funding was utterly unacceptable and 7 days wasn't?

DHS funding. Apparently 3 weeks bad but one week good

Dems seem to have miscalculated. If they let three-week CR sail though, the fight would have consumed all of March. Now just one week

Cantor Effect: Brat voted no on DHS. And brought 4 other Va Rs with him – Forbes, Hurt, Griffith, Wittman. All usually reliable for Boehner.

So House Dems voted against a clean 3-week DHS bill — No more games! Demanded long-term funding. Then voted for a 7-day bill. Odd.

House adjourns till noon Monday when DHS funding past March 6 remains an issue in both chambers. Can now return to the color of #TheDress.
