It’s true — the Iowa Freedom Summit was practically free of protesters (not counting Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who was staking out the event from across the street). Hecklers in the audience holding “Deportable” signs, though, saved up their disruption for former Texas Gov. Rick Perry when he began to discuss the state’s problem with border security and President Obama’s refusal to address it.
Perry: "If Washington refuses to secure the border, Texas will." #IAFreedomSummit

Perry got his biggest applause as #IAFreedomSummit had protestors with signs saying, "DEPORTABLE?"
— Rick Klein (@rickklein) January 24, 2015
That applause was from enthusiastic Rick Perry fans doing their part to drown out the hecklers, which they managed to do very well.
Rick Perry speech intrupted by half a dozen protesters w 'Deportable' signs, who are drowned out by audience applauding Perry

Anti-American defenders of illegals disrupt Perry’s address. Throw em out! Back to the border!

"I am an undocumented American, I'm just asking you for an opportunity" one activist shouts as police escort him out.

Perry was followed on stage by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who was targeted by what looked to be a single heckler as soon as he began speaking. Christie had the perfect response, though.

In case you were wondering:
One of the protesters, @JuanSaaa of Florida, who describes himself as undocumented, says "Only 2 arrests were made." #IAFreedomSummit

Cesar Vargas @DREAMerJ_D & Marco Malagon @ownittilltheend were arrested but have been released I was just told. http://t.co/uwZKd3jrNX

Released? You mean deported, right?
