SOTU: President vows to stand up to ideology of 'violent extremism,' avoids 'I' word

No one expected President Obama to use the words “Islamic terrorism” or “Islamic extremism” during his State of the Union address, even when talking about ISIS or the recent terrorist attacks in France. There was always the chance he’d slip up and violate the White House speech code by dropping the “I” word, but no. No need to limit one’s options when it comes to extremism.
