The Super Bowl-bound Seattle Seahawks have apologized for their tweet this morning commemorating Martin Luther King Day. Many were offended by the juxtaposition of Martin Luther King’s words and a post-game photo of quarterback Russell Wilson. The team deleted the tweet, but not before several screen captures had been taken.
Wait, the Seattle Seahawks didn't do what I think they did with MLK's words…right?

Dear @Seahawks … This is football that you PLAY. Trying to compare struggles and success to #MLK is horrible. pic.twitter.com/eiCoCO0gkn

Lol, the @Seahawks actually just tried to relate the struggles of MLK to those of a football team. Tweet deleted. Someone's getting fired.

Well, it happens every year…. someone had to abhorrently mock the legacy of MLK on MLK day. https://t.co/qZEn2Dcqfg

.@Seahawks playing quarterback on a football team. Basically the same thing as what MLK did
— jenny (@jp_on_rye) January 19, 2015
So… MLK was talking about winning a playoff game, not advancing the civil rights movement? This seems misguided https://t.co/fW5rYUIuPf

They were few, but there were dissenting voices.
@cgb5001 @Seahawks I don't find this to be offensive. It shows a black man Who is successful Given an opportunity due to what MLK fought for
— Steve Jachimowicz (@SJachimowicz) January 19, 2015
@Seahawks MLK Should be applied to everything where its applicable. Not just Civil rights Movement. Taking it down is racist. Real Talk
