Iowa’s Sen. Chuck Grassley keeps a low profile, but he became a Twitter sensation in 2012 with his account of him and Fred hitting and possibly killing a deer on Highway 136. “Assume deer dead” became Grassley’s catch phrase, and the incident even inspired the creation of the haunting Twitter account @GrassleyDeer.
Flash forward to 2015, and Grassley is still tweeting about car/deer collisions, but this time he has an alibi.
Fred driving me. He said Tues b4 new yr day he hit deer. Don't hv to assume anything. He told deer dead I wasn't w him that nite

@ChuckGrassley This is actually one of your better-written tweets, which isn't really saying much…

Confirmed in 2013: Sen. Grassley writes his own tweets; no anonymous intern behind the keyboard here.

What’s the body count up to now? We still don’t know who hit the deer Grassley found during his morning run on the farm.
@ChuckGrassley I'd be suspicious of Fred if I were you, Chuck
