So it turns out this isn’t the most transparent administration ever, but it was pretty clear what White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough was up to when he passed out donuts in the White House press room as thanks to the press for all they [don’t] do, like pursue the Benghazi scandal.
So what was Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) up to tonight when he presented the press at the “budget stakeout” with homemade fruitcake? Re-gifting? Taking a chapter from the CIA #TortureReport? Has anyone ever been successfully bribed with fruitcake?
He did admit it was “a bit of a metaphor.”

Turns out that wasn’t the only snack on the menu, as members of Congress apparently tried to outdo each other to feed hungry reporters. Time to replace the CNN countdown clock with the CNN calorie counter.
