National Urban League just ran an ad on Fox News to support Common Core. They need to research it, not take it at face value.

Public service announcements co-created by the National Urban League touting the benefits of Common Core State Standards are beginning to make the rounds on TV. Why, here’s one now:
As PSAs, they air without charge, but finding money for their production shouldn’t have been a problem — as blogger and New York University research professor of education Diane Ravitch notes, the pro-Common Core Gates Foundation has granted more than $5 million to the Urban League over the past several years.
The Miami Herald’s Marc Caputo and his wife have taken notice of the ads as well.
Urban League running ads touting #CommonCore. My wife who teaches in Title 1 school says she's starting to hate CC re writing instruction

As much as we hear about the tear-inducing properties of Common Core math, there’s Common Core writing instruction to deal with as well, and plenty of teachers and parents aren’t fans.
Apparently #CommonCore writing instruction is analytical only. No creative writing. No teaching anything about the art or joy of writing

@MarcACaputo that's sad. Are we training kids to think and learn and be creative, or hoping to raise a bunch of little robots?
— Sarah Rumpf (@rumpfshaker) November 15, 2014
@rumpfshaker it's part of a long process of downplaying the arts and straightjacketing teachers to only teach 1 way prescribed by experts
— Marc Caputo (@MarcACaputo) November 15, 2014
@MarcACaputo @rumpfshaker what did you expect from those who came up with this crap, they can't count, do you think they could write.
— Arthur Dudlets (@ADudlets) November 15, 2014
@MarcACaputo I've wondered for awhile what would happen if we abolished tenure, required curriculums, standardized tests & most school admin
— Sarah Rumpf (@rumpfshaker) November 15, 2014
.@MarcACaputo and from 1 person who makes a living writing to another, this doesn't seem to be effective way to develop good writing skills
— Sarah Rumpf (@rumpfshaker) November 15, 2014
@rumpfshaker the people who advocate for abolishing tenure are the same who push standardized testing and/or Common Core

Apparently, African-American parents love Common Core.

Here’s a simple writing exercise: describe Common Core writing instruction in two words.
@MarcACaputo It's awful.
