It might have escaped the attention of our president, but no one can fault Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren for not doggedly pursuing the plight of Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, who made a wrong turn with his truck and was imprisoned in Mexico for 214 days on gun charges. Tahmooressi finally set his feet on American soil Oct. 31, and tonight on “On the Record” Van Susteren aired a one-hour interview with Tahmooressi that was at times harrowing and downright uncomfortable to hear.
For example, the pair got into the details of a suicide attempt after an escape attempt went wrong.
On attempting suicide #MarineFreed says he worried that they would try & hurt his family…"Maybe taking my life is the best thing" @FoxNews

#MarineFreed: There were neon light bulbs on the ceiling & I thought, 'that's my way out' – I broke the bulb & stabbed myself in neck

Tahmooressi, who has PTSD, remained calm, but some thought it was too soon to be asking him to recount so many instances of trauma.
@greta Should not have been aired 🙁

@greta @FoxNews you should not be talking to him about this. Detrimental to his mental health.

@greta @FoxNews TRR: He's seriously suffering from his ordeal, needs help & its too early to be publically parading him around for ratings.

@greta @FoxNews Happy to see our #MarineFreed, but think this interview is too soon, too intrusive, and too stressful for him.

@greta Prayers for this young man. Maybe a little too soon to do this interview.

@greta #MarineFreed hard to watch him bare his soul. He's so not together.

While many can forgive Van Susteren for conducting the interview, few are in a forgiving mood toward Mexico and the Obama administration.
@greta @FoxNews #marinefreed Find them, find them all, snatch them, and publicly punish them so this NEVER happens again. A CLEAR WARNING.

Despite being asked to recount so many traumatic events, Tahmooressi’s final message was one of hope.
