According to his tweets, Washington Post columnist E.J. Dionne spent the afternoon in the MSNBC studios with Al Sharpton, so who can say what might have happened to his higher cognitive skills in that environment. He also appeared on NPR’s “Week in Politics,” where he repeated a desperate anti-GOP claim that most liberals dropped like a hot rock early this week: if the GOP hadn’t allowed the NRA to block the president’s surgeon general nominee, we wouldn’t be in the market for an Ebola czar.
What we do have now is an acting surgeon general who’s nowhere to be found and an Ebola czar with no medical training whatsoever.

@EJDionne Why do you try and make it sound like we don't have a surgeon general.
Rear Admiral (RADM) Boris D. Lushniak, M.D., M.P.H.— Brett Adams (@BrettAdams12) October 18, 2014
@EJDionne @NormOrnstein You really thing a SG would have prevented the problems we've had? Respect your opinion, but that's quite a stretch
— Ron Fournier (@ron_fournier) October 18, 2014
@ron_fournier @EJDionne Prevented? No. Helped a lot to coordinate efforts, provided a respected voice focused on public health, you bet.
— Norman Ornstein (@NormOrnstein) October 18, 2014
@t67336525 @EJDionne @NormOrnstein Competence calms. Words, hollow. Surgeon general wouldn't make system work. Figurehead. Klain might.
— Ron Fournier (@ron_fournier) October 18, 2014
.@t67336525 @EJDionne @NormOrnstein Best thing we can do for the WH is to stop making excuses 4 them. Stop enabling failure & they may grow
— Ron Fournier (@ron_fournier) October 18, 2014
@ron_fournier @t67336525 @EJDionne it wouldn't hurt to acknowledge that blocking nominees for political purposes has consequences

@EJDionne @instapundit Don't we have an acting SG with the same powers? #Strawman

@EJDionne You might want to catch up on the news – Reid killed the filibuster. Dems can approve any nominee with NO Republican votes.

@EJDionne @instapundit Lushniak is not only a Doctor, but a Rear Admiral as well.Medical and executive experience.2 things Klain is missing.

@hboulware @instapundit Maybe @EJDionne thinks we should put a Surgeon General's Warning on flights from #Ebola hot zones.

.@NormOrnstein @EJDionne So GOP Senators are to blame for their obstinance, while the NRA is to blame for Dem Sens' obstinance? @orrinknox

@EJDionne There wouldn't need to be an Ebola czar if Obama said NO flights to/from Africa or connecting flights from EU. Derp @AaronWorthing

@kerpen Dems control the Senate & WH yet the GOP is responsible for everything the government does wrong. @NormOrnstein @EJDionne
— jon gabriel (@exjon) October 18, 2014
@EJDionne what a bunch of malarkey. His SG is all about pushing junk science to change behavior. Obama is afraid of competence below him.

BREAKING: Old ass Washington journalists have no idea what the Surgeon General does. Or that we have one. Currently. @NormOrnstein @EJDionne
