Wendy Davis’ campaign team wins hands down the award for worst campaign move of the day with its “tasteless Hail Mary” ad featuring an empty wheelchair. Coming in a distant second, though, is the Bruce Braley campaign, which convinced Michelle Obama to head to Des Moines, Iowa, to speak at a rally at Drake University.
The problem isn’t that Braley agreed to appear onstage with an Obama; rather, as widely reported, the first lady didn’t seem to know for whom she was campaigning, calling the Democratic senate candidate Bruce Bailey several times.

@JohnEkdahl I don't think I've seen a worse 7 days for a political party in my life. It's like a Roman farce.

Democrats as a party are having a really bad week. RT @WilliamPetroski: Michelle Obama talks about "Bruce Bailey”

It’s a hurricane. Michelle Obama talking about Bruce “Bailey” and suggesting he’s a marine. Davis with the wheelchair. Grimes’s non-answer.

Bruce Bailey, won't you please go home? #lyricalpoliticaltweets

This is bad http://t.co/FVbZYwtmCw but I could've been worse, @BruceBraley. Michelle could've endorsed this guy: pic.twitter.com/NdslpKhrqR

Bill Clinton called him Bruce "Bailey" at the Harkin steak fry as well. Maybe he should just change his name. http://t.co/MrZWznGxm9

It is worth mentioning that, despite the first lady’s claim, her good friend Bruce “Bailey” never served as a Marine?
Good Lord. Apparently Michelle Obama has called Bruce Braley "Bailey" several times and said he's a former Marine.
— RBe (@RBPundit) October 10, 2014
So Michelle Obama mispronounced Braley's last name and then falsely claimed he's a USMC vet.
Damn, even she's checked out of this admin.

Bruce Braley never even served. How does FLOTUS think he's a USMC vet?

In fairness, maybe there *is* a guy named Bruce Bailey who served honorably in the Marines…he's just not running for Senate in Iowa.
